I visited MOCA the other day and got to see Marlene Dumas: Measuring Your Own Grave. I loved it! A solo show for a female artist who does figurative art. HELL YEAH! I thought her art was beautiful, gross, disturbing, and compelling. The “Guide by Cell” tour was also pretty great, because the recordings are by Dumas herself. (instead some dry art historian speaking over top of silly jazzy elevator music that has nothing to do with anything *talking about you, VEGAS!*).
So yeah the title of this post are the words of Dumas in answer to people asking if her art is obscene. The photo above is taken from THIS website (lots of good stuff about her there!).
